The Expat Community

When we came to Merida we were among the youngest of the Expat community.  Not so much any more.  Not only have we aged 14 years but the community is getting more diverse and younger. Families are moving in from all over Mexico alongside a smattering of entrepreneurs moving in from Europe and the USA.  Of course with all the House Hunters International programs we have the snowbirds escaping the winter and the old timers looking for a cheaper safer place to spend pre-eternity.  But I think what has made Merida pop out of the obscurity is the young people looking for an alternative to 'American Dream' which has been exported around the world.
Here is a link to some of our friends who have homes in Merida and here is a link to some of the projects started by expats from around the world.
